While attempting to install System Mechanic the installer closes without completing and/or I receive the error "Setup\uninstall has stopped working”

There are two probable causes for this behavior:

  • A conflict is occuring between the System Mechanic installer and the Intel Turbo Memory driver distrubuted on Lenovo systems.
  • An invalid .dll file has been created and is preventing System Mechanic from installing properly.

Lenovo Users
In most cases updating the Intel Turbo Memory driver on your system should resolve this issue. If you are unsure how to update the driver contact Lenovo support for additional help.  If after updating this driver you are still unable to install System Mechanic, follow the instructions below.

32-bit Windows Users

  1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32
  2. Locate the file named mfc45.dll and delete it.

64-bit Windows Users

  1. Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64
  2. Locate the file named mfc45.dll and delete it.

System Mechanic should now install normally.
