I receive the message "Incompatible Applications Detected" while installing an iolo product. What does this mean?

Answer

This message occurs when the System Shield or iolo AntiVirus installation manager detects conflicting security products installed on your computer.

From the Incompatible Applications Detected screen there are two proper methods for proceeding with the installation:

  1. Open Add/Remove Programsand uninstall the conflicting programs.
  2. Click Back and deselect the equivalent iolo product.

Though it is possible to continue the installation without choosing one of these methods, any time more than a single antivirus, firewall, or both is installed on the same PC there is a considerable risk of adverse effects. These effects may include but are not limited to installation failure, errors, slow-down, crashes, and in a worst case scenario an inoperable PC. Using only the included iolo antivirus, firewall, and antispyware products eliminates this risk of conflict.
